FAQs
How is a life coach different from a therapist?
Therapists are trained to give advice, coaches are not trained for this. We are trained to be active listeners and to ask meaningful questions to encourage clients to discover what is best for them. Therapists tend to focus on the past, whereas coaches more on what you want in the future.
What is the International Coaching Federation (icf)?
The ICF is the only organization in the world that regulates the coaching industry. They train their coaches that the client has the answers and we are the professionals who help guide our clients to those answers. Usually, certifications are 9-month-long programs that go over extensive training to aid others with their lives and goals.
Why hire a life coach?
ICF-trained coaches are trained to listen deeply and help you get clear on what you want, and how you can get there. They empower you to hold yourself accountable and address any obstacles along the way. You are the expert in your life, coaches help you uncover and become aware of the blocks that keep you from having the life you truly desire
What is the difference between a coach, consultant, teacher, and mentor?
Coaching is a collaborative + creative process to inspire clients to maximize their personal and professional potential. Teachers give information and knowledge. Consulting is a specialist who provides advice. Mentoring is giving someone with less experience some guidance.
Can I work with a life coach and a therapist at the same time?
Yes, absolutely. Working with both at the same time can be very healing and progressive. I’ve worked with both at the same time in the past and enjoyed working on healing the past & trauma while working on my goals and dream life.
Is it worth hiring a life coach?
It is worth hiring the right life coach. Choosing one that is legitimate and professionally trained can make all the difference. Getting to the root cause of issues that keep you stuck while having a trusted person who can walk the path with you makes achieving your goals that much more attainable. Awareness, accountability, greater clarity, more confidence, and self-esteem are just a few results of working with a qualified coach.
